Michelle Montoya – CMMA Scholarship Winner!

Chicago Meat Authority is proud to announce that Michelle Montoya is a scholarship winner from the Chicago Midwest Meat Association! The scholarship awarded to her is for $3,000 for the 2022-2023 school year and will renew each year of school as long as she stays in good academic standing. Michelle is the oldest daughter of 23-year veteran butcher Luis Montoya.

Michelle graduated from Back of the Yards High School this spring and will attend the University of Illinois at Chicago in the fall. She plans to major in Biological Sciences and after college she wants to attend veterinary school.

When asked about what it took to receive this scholarship award, she said “it was hard work and applying was stressful, but it feels good to be recognized for the hard work.”

We are very happy for Michelle and her family and we wish her all the best at college this fall!
